Despite playing less than a dozen games during his one injury ridden season at Duke, Kyrie still apparently has an appreciation towards the University.
It’s recently been reported by current Duke player’s Marshall Plumlee and Amile Jefferson that the Cav’s guard sent the entire collegiate squad new Kyrie 1 Nike shoes, custom made in Duke colors for this years tournament.
This also comes after the Duke team got to try out the new Nike Kobe 10’s earlier this year, as it appears the perks of playing for such a prestigious basketball school are endless.
Watch the duo describe the shoes in the YouTube video below.
As for why Kyrie is allowed to send college athletes gifts, Yahoo reports,
assuming those shoeboxes weren’t stuffed with cash, this is all perfectly up-and-up. Duke has a shoe deal in place with Nike, and this is presumably part of that ongoing relationship.
Have no fear, Duke fans, there won’t be any suspensions for accepting these shoes.
