In case you missed it, a college baseball player (legal adult) wasn’t happy that Mo’ne Davis (teenage girl) was receiving a movie from Disney based off of her life. Read a screenshot of the tweet for yourself below.
Apparently, he thought that she didn’t deserve it after her performance in the LLWS, but she DID deserve to get called a “slut”? Not the best decision making by this guy, Joey Casselberry. He’s since apologized, and has been kicked off of his College baseball team.
Mo’ne has to be one of the most mature teenage girls we’ve ever encountered, though, as she just recently forgave his apology and asked his team for reinstatement for the young man.
TMZ Sports spoke with a rep for Bloomsburg who tells us … President David L. Soltz received an email from Davis and her coach in which they ask that Joey Casselberry’s dismissal from the team be reconsidered.
The team said Casselberry violated the athletic department’s social media policy — and possibly the school’s code of conduct.
While Bloomsburg says they respect Davis’ opinion and praise her for being incredibly mature about the situation — the school will NOT reinstate the baseball player … saying, “Right now we’re standing firm.”
After issuing a letter to the school, she went on SportsCenter and said that everyone makes mistakes. She spoke on how hard Joey Casselberry has worked to reach his goal of becoming a ball player, and how he’s deserving of another opportunity.
The University hasn’t reversed its ruling, though, so as of now Joey is still off of the team.
This just once again displayed her great poise and sensibility to the world, as she opted to take the high road while many of us would have done far worse. Mo’ne is truly a remarkable young girl and deserves all the money Disney is about to make for her.
