Aaron Hernandez’s attorneys are using their finals words to the jury to sway the idea that the former Patriots tight end is guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
James Sultan, one of Hernandez’s attorneys, told the jury that Hernandez witnessed the murder of Odin Lloyd. In a case where reasonable doubt means everything — Sultan is trying to get someone from the jury pool to believe that one of Hernandez’s cohorts — Ernest Wallace or Carlos Ortiz pulled the trigger.
His defense team understood that the evidence was overwhelming in place Hernandez at the scene of the crime. At this point they simply want someone to believe that another shooter could be plausible.
Which leads to the defense claiming that Hernandez had a gun on him for protection against the whoever he witnessed gun Odin Lloyd down.
