No one made a big deal when Patriots QB was noticeably absent at the team’s White House visit last week. The excuse that was put out there was that Brady had prior family commitments that prevented him from attending. This seemed fair, and everyone let it pass without a fuss.
However, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that Brady actually was at Gillette Stadium for part of the day last Thursday when the team was at the White House. Whatever the family commitment that Brady had to tend to obviously didn’t stop him from showing up to work, and now things get a little more peculiar. Now people are starting to question whether or not Brady just chose not to go, and there is good speculation as to why.
During the midst of the most talk about the Deflategate scandal, White House press secretary Josh Earnest took a little shot at the Patriots QB after Brady’s press conference about the situation.
“For years it’s been clear that there is no risk that I was going to take Tom Brady’s job as quarterback of the New England Patriots,” Earnest said after Brady’s widely-panned performance. “But I can tell you, as of today, it’s pretty clear that there’s no risk of him taking my job either.”
Ouch! Well, Brady may indeed be bitter at the current office and chose to snub their visit as several media outlets seem to be implying. I’ll leave that for you guys to decide. It probably didn’t help that President Obama also made a Deflategate joke at the visit.
