Indiana Pacers forward Paul George was carted off the during the fourth quarter of lost to the Memphis Grizzlies adding insult to injury. The Pacers playoff hopes were shot down after losing 95-83 but being without George who was playing in only his sixth game of the season, was a big distraction.
“Just came off a screen and felt a pop, but they looked at it and it’s nothing more than just a calf strain,” George said, slowly. “It wasn’t a knee injury but it’s tough, you work so hard in rehab and have something else pop up. The good thing is, I know we’ve got a long summer and a lot to look forward to.”
This has to be very scary for George. After suffering a horrific injury during a Team USA scrimmage last summer, any leg pain or discomfort has to make him second guess his choice to return to action. I understand that all he knows is basketball and has made a living from it but I just don’t understand why it was so important to get back into action this year with only a hand full of games left.
The Pacers went 5-1 after George’s return but George never seemed to get a good rhythm in his limited action.
