Point spreads on Week 1 NFL games have already started popping up in Vegas with some new trends for ascending teams — and a familiar role for the Oakland Raiders.
The Westgate SuperBook opened the Raiders as 3-point home underdogs to the Cincinnati Bengals in a Sept. 13th opener.
Barring a line movement, it will be the 25th straight game that Oakland has been an underdog, a streak that dates back to a Nov. 3, 2013 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the traditional Thursday opener featuring the Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots opened as 6-point home favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Defending Super Bowl champions are 9-2 straight-up in season openers since 2004.
