Artis, a four star recruit who played at prestigious Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, then played two years at the the University of Oregon. In the spring of 2014, Artis along with former Ducks Damyean Dotson, and Brandon Austin were involved in one of the more bizarre and controversial rape scandals.

The rape allegations came right before the start of the NCAA Tournament, and the school allowed the players to play. Upon return the school was notified and a police report was made. The scandal forced all three players to get kicked off the team.
This past year, Artis played ball at ironically, Diablo Valley Community College in Pleasent Hill, California.
