This was a very sweet thing to do. Might just want to get a payday loan next time, but sweet nevertheless.
Next time Robert Phillip Rivas wants to do something romantic for his girlfriend, he should probably avoid robbing a credit union.
The 26-year-old man was motivated to rob the Utah Community Credit Union in order to get his hands on enough money to bail his girlfriend out of jail.
According to Lt. Britt Smith, “(With) search warrants we were able to find some receipts for bail bondsmen that indicated he had in fact bailed his girlfriend out of jail hours after the robbery here in Pleasant Grove.”
Rivas might be a loyal boyfriend, but he isn’t exactly the smoothest criminal; he walked directly from the robbery to the police department wearing a wig, fake beard and fake eyebrows.
His girlfriend has been released, but he is still in jail.
