The Cavs may be missing yet another key component in their starting lineup as they march towards a Finals run. They’ve made it this far without Kevin Love, but would they continue to thrive without Kyrie Irving?
Originally, Irving injured his right foot in Game 2 of the first round series against the Boston Celtics, about three weeks ago. More recently, a Cleveland reporter noticed Irving began taping his left leg, and walking with a noticeable limp.
I asked him directly in the media scrum to address if there’s anything wrong with his left leg, and he paused briefly, before responding “Nah. Nah, there’s nothing wrong.”
As soon as the media contingent dissipated, Irving said, “Chris, you’re very observant.”
Irving’s left leg has been wrapped in dynamic taping, which is elastic that helps support the structure of the body. The pain is believed to be caused due to overcompensating.
Upon exiting the arena last night with a grimace plastered to his face, Irving walked gingerly and limped noticeably. However, it wasn’t his right foot that he was favoring. He was very cautious with each step not to place weight on his left leg. The Cavaliers are calling it a “sore left leg” for the time being.
Needless to say, things aren’t looking great for Kyrie. When asked why he has decided to continue to play, his answer was simple:
“I’d rather will it out and give it a chance, than sitting back and watching my brothers compete without me”
That sounds like a true warrior, right there.
And in true warrior fashion: Kyrie will play in the all important Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, currently tied 2-2.
David Blatt says there has been no discussion on sitting Kyrie Irving for healing purposes. He's going to play through.

Kyrie Irving had an MRI this morning that confirmed a right foot strain and tendinitis in his left knee. Amazing he can run at all.
