Director Ava Duvernay, best known for Selma has been hired by Marvel to direct the film adaptation of Black Panther.
Rumors and reports have circulated for months, about Marvel’s interest in the socially conscious director taking on the story and according to Marvel Exchange, via Geeks and Cleats the deal is good as done.

From a diversity stance, not only would Duvernay become the first female director for an MCU film, but the first non-white director, as well.
Duvernay’s known for her emphasis on social themes, while Black Panther is the first premiere Black superhero, his tale isn’t exactly one with overreaching civil rights themes. Wakanda is the wealthiest and definitely one of the most secluded (fictional) nations in the Marvel universe and T’Challa is a King so it will be interesting to see the narrative take on the character and plot in conjunction to the action.
Is Duvernay a good hire for the film?
