Oscar Pistorius hasn’t even served one-sixth of his 5-year prison sentence, but he has received a recommendation from South African prison officials that he be released for good behavior on August 21st. If released, Pistorius will be put under house arrest.
The parole board has made no official decision on the recommendation as of yet. However, prosecutors have also filed for an appeal of Pistorius’ culpable homicide conviction. The insist that he should be found guilty of murder. The prosecutors have to submit their points by August 17th, and Pistorius’ attorneys then have one month to reply.
The judge over the case will give the exact date of the appeal in August, as well.
