Cincinnati Bengals star wide out A.J. Green will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016 free agency. Green is undoubtedly one of the the premiere receivers in the NFL, and will be a hot commodity if the Bengals don’t resolve this matter soon.
The former Georgia Bulldog spoke with ESPN on the ongoing contract discussions.
“I don’t get into all the ‘I need a contract’ stuff,” Green said, according to ESPN. “I’m not here for money. I’m not broke. So I’m fine. I can wait until the end of the year to get a contract, but I know that time is coming.”
Indeed, Green will become a very wealthy man whether that is in the next week or by the beginning of the 2016 NFL free agency period.
Since Green has entered the league in 2011, he has totaled 329 receptions, 4,874 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns.
The Bengals don’t want this particular contract negotiation to linger for too long, because Green is their best weapon on offense and makes quarterback Andy Dalton’s life a lot easier.
