Seattle Seahawks’ training camp is just a few days away and star quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t signed a long-term extension yet. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Seahawks have offered Wilson a contract nearing $21 annually, with significant guaranteed money but Wilson and his camp want more. The two-sided have decided to table all contract talks once training camp starts leaving them just a couple of days before their self-imposed deadline.
Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL draft but has completely outplayed his draft grade. In 3 seasons, Wilson has 9,950 passing yards, 72 passing touchdowns, 11 rushing touchdowns and only 26 interceptions. Most importantly Wilson has led his team to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances and 1 championship title. Wilson’s salary will be $1.5 million entering season if a long-term deal isn’t reached. The Seahawks hold all the leverage and seem to be in no rush to get the deal done. Wilson hasn’t threatened to hold out and is prepared to be focused headed into camp regardless to contract statues.
