Making their final stop on a three-city press tour (New York, Montreal, Los Angeles) to promote their October 17th PPV fight at Madison Square Garden in New York, Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin and David Lemieux landed at the Conga Room in Los Angeles to share time for the final time before heading into camp. Widely recognized as the best middleweight in the division, Golovkin makes his pay-per-view debut in his quest to become boxing’s next global star and hopefully secure a unification match with the winner of Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez in 2016.
Flanked by their respective teams, Golovkin and Lemieux respectfully hyped the match-up while “The Alien” and Golden Boy partner Bernard Hopkins admonished the media for continuing to complain about match-ups instead of just changing the channel.
Golovkin, the overwhelming favorite, thanked his team and the fans for what he says is boxing’s “biggest present” while Lemieux reiterated his belief in his abilities and his desire to win.
