Wait..What?
This kid has some issues.
A boy who posed as a 13-year-old girl and solicited nude pictures from underage men in an extortion scheme has avoided jail.
Eddie Matos, 16, from Hartford, Connecticut, ‘catfished’ 18 juvenile men and persuaded them to send the explicit images as part of the extortion scheme.
The high school student, posing as a girl called Casey Morales, then threatened to post them online – unless they gave him iTunes gift cards.
He faced a lengthy prison sentence, but as none of his victims wanted to come forward and testify, he was able to plead guilty to lesser charges.
The investigation began last spring when a 15-year-old boy began talking to Matos, a student at Glastonbury High School, believing he was ‘Casey’.
They soon began talking and sharing nude pictures of each other through Snapchat.
According to court documents, the pictures ‘Casey’ sent disappeared after three-seconds, which is how the app usually works.
But Matos managed to store the images he received by taking screenshots.
After speaking for a while, ‘Casey’ began demanding a $25 iTunes gift card, threatening to put a collage of the nude photographs on Facebook if the boy didn’t comply.
Things get wild on snapchat.
