The SEC may get much of the talk about being the best conference in college football, but the Big Ten has a case right behind it. Four Big Ten schools enter the third week of play in the Top 25, and two are in the top five. While there’s plenty to look forward to for the rest of the season, this week won’t feature too many top matchups. What it will feature, though, is some affordable tickets on the secondary market.
Below are the top five Big Ten games by average price on the secondary market, according to data from TiqIQ.
Pitt at Iowa | Avg. Price: $166.10 | Get-in Price: $71
Six Big Ten schools enter the third week of the season with a record of 2-0. Three of those schools are ranked, but Iowa is not one of them. The Hawkeyes have two impressive wins, though they came against Illinois State and Iowa State, not two premiere opponents. Iowa’s opponent, Pitt, is also 2-0, but it’s arguable whether wins against Youngstown State and Akron are much better. Still, this will be an anticipated matchup in Iowa City, with the most expensive secondary market ticket prices in the Big Ten this week.
Rutgers at Penn State | Avg. Price: $131.39 | Get-in Price: $65
Only one matchup will be between two Big Ten schools, and it will come in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions and Scarlet Knights are both 1-1, after Penn State fell to Temple in Week 1 and Rutgers lost to Washington State last week. This game will be the second most expensive at Beaver Stadium this season as Penn State football tickets have an average price of $131.39, below just the final home game of the season against Michigan.
Northern Illinois at Ohio State | Avg. Price: $125.50 | Get-in Price: $55
The Buckeyes are another team that hasn’t faced a lot of tough competition through the first two games, but they’ve handled the opponents they have faced. Northern Illinois will be the next opponent at Ohio Stadium and it will be the least expensive Ohio State home game for the rest of the year. Next week’s home game against Western Michigan will be the only other game below a $200 average on the secondary market in Columbus.
Air Force at Michigan State | Avg. Price: $76.11 | Get-in Price: $29
Big Ten prices will drop greatly for the next game, which sees Michigan State host Air Force. The Spartans had their big game last weekend at Spartan Stadium when they beat the Oregon Ducks 31-28. The Spartans have a relatively light home schedule for the rest of the year and only one more game features secondary market Michigan State tickets with an average price over $100. That game will come on October 3 against Purdue with an average price of $125.31.
UNLV at Michigan | Avg. Price: $65.52 | Get-in Price: $18
The debut of Jim Harbaugh as Michigan’s head coach was spoiled on the road in Week 1, but the home debut last week against Oregon State ended with a 35-7 win. The Wolverines will stay at The Big House this week, but ticket prices will be well below what the were for the home opener. The meeting against UNLV will feature the least expensive Michigan football tickets on TiqIQ for the rest of the season.
