A horrible summer for Carmelo Anthony press wise, just got a little bit worse.
Anthony, 31, could have signed with the Chicago Bulls or L.A. Lakers last summer, but chose to return to New York for $124 million.
Grantland’s Zach Lowe is reporting that the franchise is “getting closer” to exploring the possibility of trading Anthony for assets.
The Kings and Knicks should take a look, even though neither has movable assets that would interest Phoenix — unless the Knicks are ready to engage in Carmelo Anthony trade talks. (They’re not there, yet. But they’re getting closer.)
Anthony has a no-trade clause — he’d have to approve of any deal, and I can’t see the Knicks trading Anthony after adding Robin Lopez and Aaron Afflalo.
Why make roster moves aimed at respectability, only to trade the straw that stirs the drink.
