Arizona State’s mascot found out it is all fun and games until you throw someone’s back out trying to be funny.
Sparky apparently got a little excited and jumped on the back of local councilman David Schapira during a photo op during a game, and that little stunt sent Schapira to the hospital.
Schapira documented the way the incident unfolded on his Twitter account, and has filed an injury claim with Arizona State for the bill of his hospital stay.
Finally home from the hospital! Here's what happened Friday that put me back in hospital 2 months after back surgery: pic.twitter.com/FGdpVli3x9

Here are the details from CBS Sports:
Per his claim, Schapira suffered a muscle tear as a result of the incident. He is asking for $96,146 in damages for himself and $27,000 for the City of Tempe due to expenses related to his injuries.
Schapira took pains to emphasize that his relationship with Arizona State — who immediately offered to cover his medical expenses — is good, that no lawsuit is forthcoming, and that a legal claim is necessary for any injury reimbursement.
I think it is safe to say that Sparky won’t be jumping on anyone’s back anytime soon.
