The Gerald Green situation in Miami remains a mystery to everyone, but what we do know is that the team has suspended Green for two games for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Green will be rejoining the team on Saturday. GM Pat Riley finally spoke on the situation, but it appears the team is going with the less is more route. No one is saying exactly what happened and what were the incidents leading up to the situation that caused Green to be hospitalized. Riley spoke after the victory over the Lakers, and this was all he would say about Green.
“It’s personal, and I think I’m going to leave it at that. It’s what it is, and we’re going to move on.”
Since Green is scheduled to return to the team on Saturday, the question is are the HEAT confident that he will remain stable and continue to be a healthy contributor to the team. Riley immediately cleared that up. He was very firm in his “yes” that he believed Green had gotten past whatever issues had arisen from the situation. Riley had this to say.
“I just believe that we can [be confident in Gerald Green’s return]. I been around this game for 48 years. He’s really a great kid. He’s a great athlete. Can really shoot the ball. He’s explosive. We’re going to need him, and I believe he’s going to show that to us.”
Green was highly productive coming off the bench for the HEAT. Both Riley and Erik Spoelstra expect that he will return to his usual form.
