Things are starting to heat up after rumors surfaced that Derek Jeter backed out of an underwear deal after rapper 50 Cent joined the team. Word is that Jeter thought 50 would make the company “too urban.” These claims were made in a lawsuit from Frigo’s majority owner Mathias Ingvarsson who accused the Yankee great Jeter of quitting his promotional deal when he added 50 Cent as another brand ambassador.
Jeter has some strong words for those accusations. Jeter says the accusations are “absurd because I facilitated the introductory meeting between 50 Cent and the company, so it makes absolutely no sense that I would object to 50 Cent.”
Jeter also acknowledged that Ingvarsson has threatened to start a negative public relations campaign and that he is also preparing to sue Ingvarsson. Jeter says he never agreed to be the spokesman for the brand and that he has documents to prove it.
The way 50 Cent is all over social media now a days, I’m going to take Jeter’s side on this one. If Jeter really did something wrong that had 50 Cent’s name linked to it, 50 would have let us all know via Instagram.
