Many of you may wonder how can someone trademark this? Kobe Bryant’s company sure found a way to do this.
The outpouring support for Kobe’s retirement been huge but Kobe has other plans in mind besides that. If you recall, Kobe’s farewell poem had a logo on the bottom which means “Hero/Villain” in which both the H and V overlapped one another.
In October, Kobe Inc. trademarked its name with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Late last month, the business filed to trademark “HeroVillain” and a “HV” logo, which stands for hero/villain as well as a “KB20” mark, symbolizing Bryant’s 20 years in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The intention of Kobe Inc. filing for the “HV” logo, which plays on his polarizing draw, is to use the mark for everything from trading cards and action figures to books and shot glasses.
If this isn’t Kobe’s way of introducing himself to the business world, I don’t know what is. It’s one smart move by Kobe Inc.
