DeMarcus Cousins is one of the most talented players in the NBA at any position, but he wasn’t voted in as a starter this year. In typical Boogie fashion, he shared his thoughts on the changes he would make if he were running the All-Star voting. From Yahoo:
“There definitely wouldn’t be fan voting. You can’t base it off of who is on TNT and ESPN every night. Of course, it’s going to be most winning teams’ [players], the most popular players [selected]. The other guys that play for the Milwaukee Bucks, and in our case the Sacramento Kings, who are playing just as good basketball, will never be seen. I don’t think it’s fair.”
After hearing so much about how the small market doesn’t affect Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City, it’s interesting to hear that angle from Cousins. I’m not saying it’s easy in Sacramento, but if you switched the Thunder and the Kings, would the popularity change?
As for the fan voting, it’s what All-Star weekend is all about- the fans. All-Star is for fans, All-Pro is for the players.
