Mark Cuban is a man who says exactly what’s on his mind no matter what it is and when he speaks people listen. Cuban thinks the NBA season should be a little bit longer but he doesn’t want more game. According to BleacherReport, Cuban just wants to extend the schedule by ten days.
“People say to cut a couple of preseason games off, which I’m fine with. I like preseason because I think it gives our guys a chance to play, but I would be OK with cutting a couple of preseason games down to five or six.”
Added ten days would fill the appetite sports fans have before football seasons begins.
“I just think television has changed so that the difference in households watching television on June 12 [for the NBA Finals] vs. June 24 or 26 isn’t that big, because football hasn’t started yet. It’s just the dog days of baseball and people are crying for sports still, and there’s nothing to watch. I think spreading out will be great for the league.”
I actually could see something like this happening. You have one owner already on board, all they need now is a couple more to support Cuban and a few superstars like LeBron, KD, Steph Curry and other to express that extending the season by ten days would help keep them on the court. The players make the league money and the league wants to see the stars on the court. Cuban might be up to something, this could pick up some steam soon.
