Whenever you’re in a position of power, you’re going to be criticised more than anyone else- it just comes with the territory. The Warriors are in the ultimate position of power in the NBA right now. As likeable as they are, the pendulum is swinging in the other direction especially with some ex-NBA players. From ESPN:
“It’s starting to get a little annoying just because it’s kind of unwarranted from across the board,” Curry said on the “Warriors Plus/Minus” podcast by the Bay Area News Group on Friday. “We have a very competent group, and we have fun when we’re out there on the floor, and it shows, obviously.
“We enjoy what we do. But for the most part, you don’t hear us talking about, you know, comparing ourselves to other great teams and ‘We could beat this team, we’re better than this team.’ We’re living in the moment.”
I’m all for the Warriors heel turn, even if it’s being pushed by salty ex-NBA players who are jealous of the attention and praise the young Warriors are receiving. It’s just more natural to have the alpha as the villain and the underdogs as the good guys. As much fun as it is to watch the Warriors win and dominate they way they do, wouldn’t it be more fun to root for some surprise team to upset the seemingly unflappable Warriors?
