In a season where we had to question if these so called ‘upsets’ were even upsets anymore, one would’ve assumed we’d see more little guys make the field of 68.
‘Selection Sunday’ has come and gone, but the discussion of teams who’ve been snubbed is well alive.
With that being said, let’s take a look at four teams with legitimate beefs.
Monmouth Hawks – Sure, Monmouth was more known for their bench antics than their actual play on the hardwood. At the same time, the Hawks were playing really good basketball throughout the season.
As a small school, they did what they were suppose to do by scheduling a tough non-conference slate. The Hawks defeated the likes of UCLA, USC, Notre Dame and Georgetown. Unfortunately for them, UCLA and Georgetown didn’t make the tournament as well.
However, when you look at teams such as Michigan and Syracuse in the field, it makes you wonder if there was some bias going on because those teams were wildly inconsistent all season long.
