Xavier Eaglin of the Cornell basketball team was arrested and charged with some very serious crimes. Details via The Cornell Sun:
CUPD [Cornell University Police Department] charged Eaglin with first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. Eaglin was charged with four Class B felonies and one Class A misdemeanor. He was arraigned Monday and was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m., according to CUPD.
Eaglin wasn’t the star of Cornell’s basketball team, only playing a total of 9 minutes all season long, but he was the District Player of the Year while in high school at Dayton High School. He was also said to have turned down offers to Yale, Loyola University of Mayland before accepting the offer at Cornell.
