Professional rugby leagues have a growing problem with concussions, but that pales in comparison to being tackled by the penis. British Rugby player Hayden Peacock sustained a very serious injury to his penis while being tackled during a French rugby league match.
The injury was so severe that it required stitches to Peacock’s after it was partially torn off.
The Telegraph UK has the details:
“Recounting events, Peacock told journalist and former player Guy Williams about the ordeal, who posted the story to his blog.
“When we played the other week,” said Peacock, “their centre pretty much ripped my [penis] off. I took the ball off the scrum and made a half-break, and their centre had come across from the inside and reached out in a last-ditch effort and has got a hold of my [penis] with one hand and pulled me down.
“I checked on it and the skin was half ripped off and I was like, where’s the doctor?”
Peacock, who was raised in Australia but plays internationally for Ireland, required 11 stitches in the intimate area.
“In all of my career I’ve never heard of anyone having anything like that happen – eleven stitches in the [penis].
Peacock said he had to strap his member up for the next game. “The coach wanted me to go out and buy a cup but I’m not going to play with a cup.
“I’ve now got the stitches out and it’s all sweet. No dramas.”
Eleven stitches to the penis gives taking one for the team a whole new meaning.
