Magic Johnson was the keynote speaker at the Fiserv Banking Forum in Las Vegas and I was on site at the Venetian hotel to cover the event.
Magic addressed over 3,300 banking and financial services professionals on leadership, teamwork, and the numerous ways he found success off the court with his many business ventures. Magic took time to also touch on the urgent need for big banks to serve inner city communities, and to give minority businesses financial opportunities so they can find success in the age of lucrative startups.
Magic also shared some personal stories on how he was initially turned down for business loans by numerous banks after his playing career was over, despite being wealthy and having great credit. He touched on how the businesses he created were designed to cater to the needs of minority consumers, and highlighted his successful push to bring Starbucks to more urban communities.
Magic Johnson delivered an excellent speech that wowed the conference attendees with his charm, charisma, and business intelligence. With the attributes like these, I can see why Magic was winner on the court, and will continue to win off of it.
