Should the latest news regarding Art Briles and Baylor be a surprise?
In a joint statement by the university and football head coach Art Briles, both parties have mutually decided to go their separate ways.
“Both parties acknowledge that there were serious shortcomings in the response to reports of sexual violence by some student-athletes, including deficiencies in University processes and the delegation of disciplinary responsibilities with the football program. Baylor is addressing these shortcomings and making ongoing improvements,” the statement said.
The news comes in light of the sexual assault scandal that also saw the firings of president Ken Starr and athletic director Ian McCaw last month.
Jim Grobe will take over as head coach for the 2016 season.
