Is this the right move for the Eagles and Carson Wentz?
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said rookie quarterback and second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Carson Wentz, will be the third-string QB and won’t be on the active roster immediately.
“Typically, the third quarterback is down,” said Pederson. “It’s hard right now to look down the road, but if we had to play this week, Carson would be down. He’d be the third quarterback. He’d be deactivated. That’s probably the direction we’re heading, I would think is going that route. Obviously barring injury and, as you know, how this game is, but typically the third quarterback, whoever that is, is down on game day.”
Barring any last minute changes, you will most likely see Sam Bradford as a starter on week 1 and Chase Daniels as the backup. It makes you wonder though why the Eagles would use their 1st round draft pick on Wentz if they’re just going to have him as a third-string quarterback.
