White privilege has revealed itself again, after Patrick Whetstone, 21, escape jail time after raping an unconscious classmate.
Whetstone reportedly attacked Melissa Maher as she lay unconscious on couch in March 2014 after they were partying on the Iowa State University campus.
A Nevada Superior Court Thursday decided to spare Whetstone jail time — instead he was given two years parole and 10 years sexual offender monitoring.
Maher, 21, is suing the university for its handling of the incident per The Daily Mail.
In a statement she told her attacker that she now suffers from panic attacks and struggles to sleep, even after getting engaged.
‘It’s been 914 days since you shattered my college career, put it on hold and touched my soul in a way that haunts me in my sleep.
‘My life has been completely changed because you wanted to have your fifteen minutes of fun,’ she said, reading from a two page statement.
In what can only be described as the ultimate act of privilege — Judge James McGlynn ruled that a non-custodial sentence (NO PRISON TERM) was appropriate for Whetstone.
In his ridiculous ruling, he told the Whetstone to be sure he has consent from sexual partners in the future, adding: ‘If you don’t, then stop.”
As if Whetstone had been checking for consent prior to that. For more video and information on this absurd ruling — Flip The Page:
