The UFC’s dollars are long but their roster of current champions is coming up a bit short.
According to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, the Jan. 21 pay-per-view card scheduled to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim will be pushed back to Aug. 5 and relocated to New York. On the heels of that announcement, the mixed martial arts company announced that UFC 208 will now take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 11.
Preferring to headline their cards with title fights, the industry leader in MMA finds itself without viable options. Michael Bisping, the ideal choice to headline the card, is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
Southern California based MMA fans will have another option. Bellator 170, headlined by Tito Ortiz vs. Chael Sonnen, scheduled for the same night at the Forum in Inglewood now finds itself in a position to absorb the audience that would have been split by the competing cards.
