During media availability following the Warriors game against the Trail Blazers, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked about President Trump’s immigration ban. Kerr, who has been outspoken about the President in the past, didn’t hold back in his criticism.
Kerr’s father was a University professor whose specialty was Middle Eastern Studies. Malcolm Kerr was killed in an act of terrorism in 1984. The President’s immigration ban, that supposedly is to protect America’s citizens from terror, hits close to home for the Dubs coach. He believes it is divisive and will not protect America from terror, but rather generate more animosity and fuel terror.
Kerr is measured in his response and I agree with him. Banning people with no thought as to the collateral damage that incurs when families start getting separated will not create a safe or peaceful atmosphere. Kudos to Kerr and all other athletes, entertainers, and celebrities who use their platform to speak out against the injustice that is happening to our fellow brothers and sisters.
