It seems like everyday theres a new scientific study or health trend to improve life expectancy. Richard Overton, America’s oldest World War II veteran, is alive and thriving and at the ripe age of 110-years-old. The World War II vet has had his license renewed in 2016 and still walks and drives on his own power. What’s his key to life?
I just sit there and smoke sometimes 12 cigars a day. Maybe sometimes more than that. I drink about four cups of coffee in the morning. This morning I drank about that much whiskey. I love milk, and fish, corn, and soup. I eat ice cream every night. It makes me happy. If you wanna buy any you buy butter pecan. Its the Overton diet.
Who am I to argue with the man? Turning 111 on May 6th, Overton joined the Army in 1940 serving in the South Pacific in World War II. One of Black History Month’s hidden heroes, his service was honored by then-President Barack Obama back in 2013.
