Rape is a SERIOUS crime.
It happens far too often and is under reported especially on college campuses. Any man who rapes a woman should be thrown under the jail.
There are ZERO excuses or justifications for raping anyone. It doesn’t matter what she is wearing or what she said beforehand, no simply means no 100% of the time. Victim blaming is a big problem with rape accusers and one of the reasons why that happens is when other women falsely accuse men and athletes in this case of rape.
The man can never 100% get his reputation back, there will always be that 1% no matter if it is proven that he didn’t rape anyone who will call him a rapist. The true victims of rape are hurt by women who lie because it causes people to doubt their story.
You want to stop women from lying about rape, give a mandatory jail sentence for anyone who does something like this.
An 18-year-old woman from New York was hit with charges after authorities say she falsely accused two Connecticut football players of rape.
Nikki Yovino had claimed she was pulled into a bathroom by two Sacred Heart students during a football party in Bridgeport. However, a student overheard Yovino telling the two of them that she wanted to have sex with them, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Connecticut Post.
When pressed by cops, she said she lied because of her potential interest in another man, according to authorities.
“She admitted that she made up the allegation of sexual assault against (the football players) because it was the first thing that came to mind and she didn’t want to lose (another male student) as a friend and potential boyfriend,” read the affidavit obtained by the newspaper. “She stated that she believed when (the other male student) heard the allegation it would make him angry and sympathetic to her.”
Both players were suspended from the team and stripped of their scholarships which forced them to leave school.
One player is being allowed to reapply, but without his scholarship. Their young lives ruined for something they simply didn’t do.
Yovino has been charged with falsely reporting an incident and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, she is looking at 5 years in jail.
If she doesn’t get jail time our justice system will prove once again what a joke it is.
