Backstory on Why Auburn Softball Player & Florida Coach Got Chippy in Handshake Line (Video)

Auburn beat Florida 1-0 in softball on Monday night. A nondescript SEC game that got interesting in the postgame handshake line. Florida head coach Tim Walton and Auburn shortstop Haley Fagan got into a bit of an altercation.

When Walton approached Fagan, her hand was not extended for a high five. Walton than slaps her on the front of the shoulder. Fagan didn’t appreciate that and pushed Walton in the back. The two got face to face and said some words.

You might be asking yourself, what’s the deal between Fagan and Walton? Fagan’s sisters played softball on UF under Walton in 2012 and were cut by the head coach for an altercation. The Fagan sisters were very good and the move allegedly divided the team.

It appears that both Fagan and Walton had grudges heading into the handshake line and it manifested into this altercation. Regardless of the history, this was wrong. Walton as an adult, human, male should not be engaged in any kind of physical altercation with a student.
