Villanova won the 2017 Big East Tournament title on Saturday night beating Creighton 74- 60. The Wildcats dominated just about from the outset and played their best defensive game of the season. They forced Creighton into 17 turnovers and held the Bluejays to 25% shooting from behind the arc.
Villanova senior guard Josh Hart led the way with 29 points and was named Big East Tournament MVP for the second time in his career (he won the award as a sophomore). Hart was the leader head coach Jay Wright envisioned he would be and was complimentary of his development saying in the post game presser that Hart is “the most complete player in the country.”
It has been a year of accomplishments for Hart, he was named conference player of the year and a member of the all tournament team. Hart also joins Big East and Georgetown legend Patrick Ewing and Louisville’s Peyton Siva as the only 2x winners of the Tournament MVP trophy.
