Trent Lockett has been playing basketball overseas since he went undrafted out of ASU.
With that being said he is still a black man so of course seeing hooded people is going to freak him out, but all wasn’t what it appeared to be.
American basketball player Trent Lockett got the shock of his life when he came across what he thought was a Ku Klux Klan rally in Spain.
Lockett, a former shooting guard with Arizona State who missed out in the 2013 NBA draft and now plays in Europe, came across the bizarre scene as he took a stroll in the Spanish city of Seville.
Lockett, who plays for the city’s Real Betis Energia Plus team, was taken aback when he spotted large groups of people, including children, wearing the familiar white cone hats and robes reminiscent of burning crosses and lynchings in the Deep South.
But in fact the uniforms were part of an ancient tradition dating back long before the Klan. They are traditional garb worn by people taking part in the start of Holy Week, which began on Palm Sunday.
Eventually someone explained it to Lockett, but I have to admit it would have had me freaked out as well.
