Police were called to a house in Spartanburg, South Carolina Thursday, where a mother admits to beating her son.
A South Carolina woman beat her 6-year-old son after he made a Mother’s Day card for his grandmother and not one for her.
Mother of two, Shontrell Murphy, 30, is begin charged with cruelty to children after admitting she hit her son WBRC reported. Murphy’s daughter told authorities the incident occurred after Shontrell found the handmade Mother’ Day card.
Realizing that the card from the 6-year old was not intended for her but, his grandmother Murphy became angry. The daughter also states that Murphy started ripping up the card, then hit her son several times on the head.
Cops found pieces of the handwritten card on the floor, the children told police their mom violently hit them on a regular basis and feared her. Murphy told police she did hit her kids, but made clear she
“does not believe it was in a hard or violent manner.”
The boy was later transported to the hospital for evaluation and later released.
