The Philadelphia 76ers secured the #3 overall pick in next month’s NBA Draft at last night’s draft lottery. Sixers young star Joel Embiid represented the team last night and was very confident about his squad’s future.
I think we’re building up at the right time so when we start getting good that’s when Cleveland and LeBron will start going down. So when it’s all said and done we will be mature and ready to compete for a championship. We will be ready.
Bold proclamation from “The Process,” but if you’re a Sixers fan you have to be happy. In his limited play last year, you saw the makings of a dominant NBA player in Embiid. With a top 3 pick the Sixers can land someone like Josh, Jackson, Jayson Tatum or Malik Monk. You combine Embiid, this year’s pick, and last year’s #1 Ben Simmons and you have the making of a super talented young nucleus.
A lot of things need to break right for Philly, they need playing experience, and they need to remain healthy but why can’t they start competing with the Cavs? LeBron is the best player in the world and has been for quite some time. But this year in all likelihood will be his 7th consecutive NBA Finals appearance and 8th overall. That’s a lot of miles on his body. A lot of playoff miles. We all think he is this genetic cyborg that is indestructible and while that may seem true, he is human. The one thing we know in sports and in life, is that Father Time eventually catches up to all of us.
