Mike Brown has been studying Gregg Popovich since the early 2000s. So when he said that he could take Pops on, he might know his weaknesses. This was all in good fun of course.
The Spurs and the Warriors are set to start their series on Sunday May 14 and the stakes are high. Who will win? That’s not even the match we’re curious about. The one we care about right now is between Mike Brown and Gregg Popovich.
Golden State Warriors associate head coach Mike Brown brushed aside suggestions that he was afraid of his former boss Thursday, opting instead for a joke at San Antonio Spurs legend Gregg Popovich’s expense.
“I think if I was an official I’d be intimidated,” Brown told Carl Steward of the San Jose Mercury News. “But nah, I think could beat Pop up. He’s like 70.”
If you recall, Brown was an assistant under Pops during the 2000-2003 era. It’s all fun and games here though because the respect is bigger than that.
Now this is a match that everyone would love to see.
