A Chicago man was caught on video and arrested this week after calling one black man a slave and his children vermin before punching a second black man who was passing buy.
CNN obtained video of a white man, William Boucher, becoming enraged after someone spilled a beverage on him at a Starbucks location. The incident continued out onto the side walk where Boucher spat at a black man, calling him a slave, and telling him his children are “disposable vermin.” Boucher then punched a second, elder man passing by that was uninvolved in the incident. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for an eye injury.
Patrons of the coffee shop held Boucher down until authorities arrived. Boucher has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery and is scheduled to appear in court July 5.
Starbucks issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“We have absolutely no tolerance for this type of behavior in our stores, and are grateful to the partners (employees) and customers who stepped in to help until officers arrived.”
