It’s sad when we live in a time and place where kids aren’t even allowed to live in a bubble free of hatred. The noose was found in Bedford-Stuyvesant, outside of a Public Library hours before it was scheduled to open.
Details are just coming in on the story. Here is what we know so far from the New York Daily News
Workers at the library’s Bedford Branch on Franklin Ave. near Hancock St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant found the noose hanging from a tree in the courtyard about 8 a.m. Thursday, two hours before the library opened, officials said.
Cops took down the noose, fashioned from a six-foot long rope, and vouchered it as evidence. No other hate messages or symbols were found.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. No arrests have been made. An email to the Brooklyn Public Library’s main office for comment was not immediately returned Friday.
Another day, more hateful messages/symbolism out front and center for public consumption. We’ll update you with more details as the story develops.
