Dion Waiters was locked in against the Timberwolves posting 33 points in 38 minutes on 14-28 shooting, but it still wasn’t enough to lead the HEAT to victory. The HEAT dropped another home game by the score of 125-122 in an entertaining yet frustrating overtime loss.
The entertainment came from Dion Waiters who slashed and attacked the paint relentlessly, which sparked the HEAT after falling behind in the fourth quarter. Waiters played and behaved like the HEATs best player on a night where they need something extra during Whiteside’s lingering absence.
However, 24 turnovers by Miami was just too much to overcome, and the young Wolves squeaked out a win despite Waiters’ dominance. After the game, Waiters didn’t want to hear about how well he played and said the following in the locker room:
This is exactly what you want to hear from Dion and it’s a good sign that one of the team leaders is focused on bigger things. It appears that early season losses, even at home, won’t be enough to shake the confidence of team that looks to capitalize on last year’s second half momentum. Now that Waiters and his ankle appear to be ok, the return of Hassan Whiteside should turn sloppy games like this into Ws.
