Two high school students who attend Etowah High School in Cherokee County, GA appeared in court today after being arrested for attempting to carry out terrorist attacks at the school.
WGCL-TV (CBS 46) reported that Alfred Dupree, 17, and Victoria McCurley, 17, were not allowed to contact any students or administration at the school. The two students are currently held without bond.
Officers in Cherokee County were able to receive tips that led to the arrests of these two terrorists. In McCurley’s house, police found an explosive device relative to a Molotov cocktail. In Dupree’s home, investigators found a journal detailing the disturbing plans for carrying out the attacks.
CBS46.com received a statement from the school district for Etowah High School.
“We recognize these as very serious charges, and that will be reflected in the severe administrative disciplinary actions the School District will take against these students. We will not tolerate violence of any kind at our schools. We deeply appreciate the community member who reported information to the Woodstock Police Department tip line that ultimately led to these arrests by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.”
CBS 46 also reported that both teens will be charged as adults and the charges will consist of attempted murder, making terroristic threats, and intent to commit arson.
