Doc Rivers is the dad, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are his sons and he explains why Ray didn’t attend the tribute according to UPROXX. He was able to talk with Ray before the tribute and explains the situation.
“Listen, I think that’s going to happen, Rivers said of a potential Big Three reunion. I did think it would have been great for Ray to have been there. But there’s just angst right now, and in Ray’s defense, I know he thought about coming. I can tell you that because I talked to him personally.”
Doc Continued,
“He didn’t know if he should. He didn’t know if it was the right time. He really didn’t want to take anything away from Paul or be a distraction, and he won’t be, and that’s what we’ve got to convince him of. If he would have been there, the fans would have cheered for him. That will happen eventually; you’ve just got to figure out when.”
That makes sense there and we can’t fault Ray for feeling that way. The three seem to be making strides to becoming close again and are willing to put their differences aside. The plan is that Ray will join them when they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their title this summer.
That makes a lot of sense coming from Ray’s point of view and hopefully this summer the original Big Three will come together and have a good time reminiscing about their big win in the 2008 NBA Finals, anything is possible.
