Former defensive end Greg Hardy has taken his talents to the mixed martial arts arena. He is most known for a domestic violence incident that resulted in the Carolina Panthers releasing him. He has had two previous amateur fights prior to his match versus another former NFL defensive end Austen Lane.
Hardy has taken part in three amateur fights prior to participating in this one. According to NBC Sports, Hardy knocked out Lane in 57 seconds to win his first professional fight. Hardy is reported as saying:
“This means everything. It’s awesome. I don’t really have the words,” Hardy said afterward. “I got lucky, came in, did what I was supposed to do and it worked out.”
It appears that Dana White is looking to give Hardy more opportunities to prove himself in the octagon. According to MMA Junkie White believes that everyone including Hardy deserves a second chance:
“If you talk to anybody that he trains with, male or female, they say he’s a very good guy, he’s very humble – and everybody deserves a second chance.”
This win would more than likely cement that Hardy has a promising fighting career moving forward. Flip the page for video of the knockout.
