Arizona was definitely one of the best teams in college basketball in 2017-18 as phenom DeAndre Ayton tore the competition up and ended up as the first overall pick in the NBA Draft to the local hometeam Phoenix Suns. This caused a man to do whatever it took to watch the Wildcats in action.
Some cable providers, particularly DirecTV, do not carry the Pac-12 Network which airs Arizona basketball games. According to Tim Dabos of The Barbado News Republic, this prompted an Illinois man who is 51-year-old Kevin M. Cayton who and is a huge Arizona fan to pose as a restaurant manager in Wisconsin in order to watch the games. He ordered the Pac 12 Network and the restaurant noticed it after an increase in their cable bill.
Cayton is a finance manaager at an Illinois car dealership. He is facing charges of felony identity theft for financial gain and unauthorized use of an entity’s identifying information. Both charges have six-year prison sentences.
Cable provider Charter Spectrum gave the restaurant Buffalo Phil’s inside tips on 11 phone calls that they had with Cayton. Cayton disguised his name as Pat Barkley.
Cayton has since been released on $2,000 bond. He will appear in Sauk County Court on July 31.
