The last time we saw Colin Kaepernick play in an NFL game was January 1, 2017. Kaepernick has been eliminated from the field of play because of his stance to protest social inequality back in August 2016.
In 2017 Kaepernick filed a collusion grievance against the NFL. Teams still viewed him as a starting caliber quarterback but ultimately never signed him. The Seattle Seahawks danced with Kaepernick twice and didn’t offer Kaepernick a backup spot behind Russell Wilson.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carrol said back in 2017,
“He’s a starter in this league, we have a starter, but he is a starter in this league and I can’t imagine somebody won’t give him a chance to play.”
He’s a starter in your eyes and you didn’t want to bring him in to back up Wilson, okay. According to Yahoo.com’s Charles Robinson, the NFL is trying to cover their tracks and throw out the case. The NFL has requested Stephen Burbank who is a subordinate official to provide a summary of the case or dispose of the case. If Burbank rules in favor of Kaepernick the case will continue, if not he feels Kaepernick’s legal team didn’t find sufficient evidence the case can be dismissed in favor of the NFL.
Stay tuned for more updates on Burbank’s decision.
