Former Super Bowl Champion Jameel Cook is facing serious legal issues for allegedly stealing $100k that was supposed to be used for injured NFL players, per TMZ Sports. The Harris County D.A.’s Office is saying that Cook is facing 10 years in prison and a $10k fine. He stole from the Gene Upshaw NFL Player Plan.
Cook also filed 30 fake claims between March 2016 and September 2017. He even received money after saying he had to pay out of pocket medical costs. What Cook is being charged with is Securing the Execution of Documents by Deception. This is filed as a third degree felony.
Cook won a Super Bowl with the Bucs in 2003 and played nine seasons with the NFL. He also played for the Texans before finishing his career in Tampa in 2008 and 2009.
